J.D. Mitchell-Lumsden

Beloved
I could hold one breath. I am by no miracle wearing my faces.
I say to what I am asked. A worn out hinge making half the universe whole.
When I ask I ask quietly so not to be heard by others. Breathing what I exhale.
I don’t lift a finger. That I keep my mouth shut.

J.D. Mitchell-Lumsden co-edits Erg’s chapbook series and Cricket Online Review. His poems have appeared in The Journal (UK), Lilies and Cannonballs Review, Pool, Red Rock Review, and elsewhere. He currently lives in Iowa City.
